Most High School Athletes Are Never
Taught How to Prepare
Most athletes spend years learning football skills. They learn technique, schemes, strength training, and how to practice effectively. What many athletes never learn, however, is how to prepare themselves for a game.

As a result, many players rely almost entirely on talent, athletic ability, and whatever they remember from practice throughout the week. They show up on Friday night hoping they're ready rather than knowing they're prepared.

The athletes who consistently perform at a high level often approach the week differently. They evaluate their own performance, study opponents, identify tendencies, and develop a better understanding of the situations they're likely to encounter during the game.

Preparation doesn't guarantee success, but it does help athletes play with greater confidence, make better decisions, and perform at a higher level when opportunities arise. Film study is a critical part of that process because it allows athletes to better understand themselves, their opponent, and what they need to focus on throughout the week.

"The Prepare to Perform Program at The OH Line Academy taught me how to watch film the right way—not just to see if I made a block, but to study my opponent and recognize their tendencies. Most high school players don’t really know how to break down film. These sessions helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses, improve my technique, and understand what I needed to fix. It’s made a huge difference in my development as an offensive lineman."
